1. Controller

Thorsten Meyer, Blombergstrasse 11 C, 82393 Iffeldorf, Germany — contact@passivevoicedetector.com (the “controller” within the meaning of the EU General Data Protection Regulation, GDPR).

2. The text you analyze

The passive-voice analysis runs entirely in your browser. The text you paste or type is never transmitted to us or to any third party, is not stored on any server, and we have no technical means of accessing it. To let you continue where you left off, your current draft may be kept in your browser's localStorage on your own device; clearing your browser data removes it. No cookies are set, and no analytics, advertising, or tracking scripts are loaded.

3. Optional AI rewrites (your own API key)

The detector can optionally rewrite sentences using an AI model. This feature is off by default and works only if you enter your own API key for a provider of your choice (Anthropic or OpenAI). If you enable it:

  • Your key and settings are stored solely in your browser's localStorage; we never receive, transmit, or store them. "Forget key" removes them.
  • When you press a rewrite button, the relevant text is sent directly from your browser to your chosen provider — it never passes through our servers, because we have none. The provider processes it under its own terms and privacy policy, and usage is billed to your own account with that provider.
  • We never supply, share, or pay for API keys, and we receive no data about your AI usage.

Legal basis for the transmission you initiate is your request itself (Art. 6 (1)(b) GDPR); the recipient is the provider whose key you configured.

4. Server log files

Our hosting provider (ALL-INKL.COM — Neue Medien Münnich, Hauptstraße 68, 02742 Friedersdorf, Germany) processes technical access data when you load the site: IP address, date and time, requested file, referrer URL, browser type, and operating system. This processing is necessary to deliver the website securely and is based on our legitimate interest pursuant to Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR. Log files are handled according to the provider's retention practices and are not merged with other data or used to identify visitors. A data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR is in place with the provider.

5. Contact by email

If you email us, we process your address and message content to answer your inquiry (Art. 6 (1)(b) and (f) GDPR) and delete the correspondence once it is no longer needed, unless statutory retention duties apply.

6. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20), and objection (Art. 21). You may also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority; competent for us is the Bavarian Data Protection Authority (BayLDA), Promenade 18, 91522 Ansbach, Germany.

7. Changes

We will update this policy if the site's functionality changes. The effective date above always reflects the current version.
